All breeds have some genetically inherited diseases that are
particular to that breed. It is the responsibility of reputable breeders to
test for those diseases (where there are tests available) and to not
knowingly breed affected individuals or, individuals that they suspect might
be carriers of any of these genetic diseases or conditions.
Whether you get a puppy from us,
or from another breeder, please be sure that you ask about what health
testing they do. This will help to insure that the new member are adding to
your family is a healthy one.
We follow our breed's parent club's recommendation on health
testing and breed only individuals that we know to be healthy and free from
any genetic disease or condition. However, even this is not a guarantee that
we will never have an affected puppy. If at any time one of our puppies
comes down with any of these genetically inherited conditions, we want to be
notified so that we can notify other owners who have puppies from this same
breeding. We will, upon being provided with proof of the genetic condition
from a reputable veterinarian, happily provide a replacement puppy
(companion or show prospect depending on what the original puppy was)
from the next available breeding.
